(1)After the Smart Choice Protection Period, the warranty amount is prorated.
(2)The Lifetime warranty is applicable only to shingles and accessories installed on a single-family detached residence owned by individuals.

We highly recommend Timberline Shingles for homeowners looking for trusted products with the option of a workmanship warranty. The 50-year Smart Protection Period applies to all warranties, and the term refers to the best possible coverage under the warranty terms. Should you invoke your warranty after the coverage period, the award will be reduced to reflect the use you received from the shingles.
This warranty only applies to shingles installed by a GAF Master Elite contractor, a perk that comes standard for all Assurance Residential clients. Please note that the warranty terms will change if you’re installing Timberline Shingles on a non-single family detached residence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Warranties

Yes, we offer warranties that cover both the materials for the entire roofing system for 50 years and the workmanship for up to 25 years on every roof that we install. Our warranties are backed by GAF, and are some of the best in the industry. GAF is North America’s largest and leading roofing manufacturer, and has been in the business for 130 years. The odds of experiencing a problem with a new GAF roof are minuscule. But, even though problems are rare, you want to know that if you do have a problem, it’s covered.
A good warranty will include both materials and workmanship, be backed by the materials manufacturer and last 30 or more years. To read more about this topic, check out our blog What Should I Consider in a Roof Warranty?”
GAF Master Elite® Certified contractors are trained to be the best in the business, so this is a good question! The truth is that the warranty doesn’t just cover the work done though, it also covers any defects in the materials. Some homeowners will opt for the Golden Pledge warranty just for the convenience of disposal services! For an investment as large as a roof, a warranty is a small price to pay for serious peace of mind.
The Good Housekeeping Institute (GHI) is the product testing lab run by the well-known brand. It it the oldest consumer product testing lab of its size and has stringent standards for product quality. A product with the Good Housekeeping seal on can be trusted to perform well and have a long lifetime. In fact, Good Housekeeping is so confident in the results of their lab that they back up all products they put their seal on with a $2000, 2-year warranty. To learn more: Good Housekeeping Seal
Yes! If you’re selling your home, warranties can be transferred once to a new owner. They simply need to notify GAF within the first 60 days of the transfer. The new owner can send an email to ccp@gaf.com with their name, address and date of purchase. Or, they can call GAF at 1-877-423-7663, Option 2, Option 1.
The Smart Choice Protection Period refers to the crucial period of time following installation of the GAF Products during which the coverage provided for in your GAF warranty is non-prorated. After the Smart Choice Protection Period, the remedy provided for in your GAF Warranty may be different than that provided for during the Smart Choice Protection Period, and any remedy will be reduced to reflect the use you have received from your GAF Products. The amount of use will be calculated by dividing the number of months which have elapsed since installation to the date of claim by the number of months in the warranty term. For a Lifetime limited warranty, the number of months in the warranty term is deemed to be 600 for years 11-40 of the warranty term. For years 41 and beyond of a Lifetime warranty, GAF’s contribution is 20%. For example, if you make a claim for Lifetime shingles after they have been installed for 25 years (or 300 months), your settlement will be reduced by 300/600, or 50%.
Yes! We employ trained roofers on every job, and stand behind our work. While we don’t expect any problems, your complete satisfaction is our ultimate goal. If you experience any problems for up to 25 years, (depending on your warranty), we will make it right.
